Waynesville-Sarah Elizabeth Gray, 69, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at The Homestead, surrounded by her loving family. Sarah was born in Haywood County on October 28, 1947, to the late Joseph and Louise Forney Gray. Sarah worked at the Head Start program for 30 years and loved the kids. Sarah never met a stranger and was always happy. She loved working puzzle books, watching gameshows, playing card games, and dancing. Sarah was her sons’ hero and always kept the family together. Waynesville-Sarah Elizabeth Gray, 69, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at The Homestead, surrounded by her loving family. Sarah was born in Haywood County on October 28, 1947, to the late Joseph and Louise Forney Gray. Sarah worked at the Head Start program for 30 years and loved the kids. Sarah never met a stranger and was always happy. She loved working puzzle books, watching gameshows, playing card games, and dancing. Sarah was her sons’ hero and always kept the family together. She will be remembered for calling to check on her special family members and friends, always calling them “Baby”.



In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by a son, Richard Gray; and her brothers, Eugene and Marion Gray.



Sarah is survived by her son, Larry Gray, (Leslie); brothers, Joseph Gray, Jr. (Mary) and Charles Gray (Cathy); sisters, Edith Caldwell (Alfred) and Sandra Kemp (Charles); her granddaughters, Lennox and Alexis Gray; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.



A Home Going Service celebrating Sarah’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 16, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Elder Roderick Sanders and the Reverend Walter S. Bryson officiating.
